2010 Emerging Ten (E-10) Award
The Houston Minority Development Council (HMSDC) selected Michael Nelson, MEng, PMP President of P2MG as one of the recipients of the 2010 Emerging Ten (E-10) Awards.
The Houston Minority Supplier Development Council (HMSDC), the Houston Business Journal and Title Sponsor Halliburton celebrate the 2010 Emerging Ten (E-10) Award Winners. This prestigious award honors 10 of HMSDC's top minority-owned businesses. These HMSDC certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) have faced the challenges common to all independent entrepreneurial efforts. In addition, they have often had to overcome hurdles that are a legacy from the past. Those who both achieve financial success and share their skills and resources with the minority business community are definitely worthy of this award.
HMSDC has been recognizing minority-owned business owners since 1997, who have “emerged” successfully after having faced challenges, overcome hurdles and at many times done it without adequate financial resources.
The E-10 is awarded to individuals/firms that have “emerged” to: (1) Excel in customer service, (2) Set innovative trends, (3) Embrace the current marketplace, and (4) Contribute to the community’s economic and civic base.
The Emerging Ten (E-10) Awards Presentation was held on November 3, 2010 at the Hilton Americas — Houston, 1600 Lamar, Houston.
Established in 2006, P2MG is a construction firm offering program/project management, construction management at risk, job order contracting and architectural/engineering dredging. After completing his Masters Degree in Construction Management and receiving his PMP, Mr. Nelson began his business with his own credit line and began to forge relationships within the industry's most successful businesses.
To adjust to the marketplace and ensure customer satisfaction and meet the triple constraint of construction projects, P2MG developed a process/methodology combining Six Sigma and Project Management Institute principles called Six Sigma for Construction. This combined approach allows for checks and balances on all process groups and ascertains continuous improvement at all phases of the project.
